# Analytics

Every redirect Zulink performs is recorded, and the analytics page turns those records into the four numbers, one chart and a set of breakdowns that answer most questions about a campaign.

## Picking a range

The range select offers 12 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Which of them you can pick depends on your plan's analytics history; longer ranges appear as you upgrade, and the clicks you have already collected stay untouched either way.

Everything on the page follows the selected range: the totals, the chart and the breakdowns.

## The numbers

| Metric | What it counts |
| --- | --- |
| Clicks | Every redirect in the range |
| Visitors | Distinct people, recognised by a cookie set on your short domain |
| Links clicked | How many different links were opened |
| Countries | How many countries the traffic came from |

The chart below plots clicks and visitors over time. Its resolution follows the range, from hourly points on a short window to two-week buckets across a year.

## Breakdowns

The breakdowns are grouped into three blocks, each row with its absolute count and its share of the total:

- **Links**, meaning short link and destination. The destination row is where the variants of an [A/B test](https://docs.zulink.co/links/a-b-testing) and the branches of [targeting rules](https://docs.zulink.co/links/targeting) become visible.
- **Audience**, meaning country, operating system, browser and device. Devices are grouped as desktop, phone, tablet, console, smart TV, wearable, embedded and XR headset.
- **Acquisition**, meaning referrer plus UTM source, medium and campaign. Visits without a referrer are listed as *Direct*.

Values that cannot be determined from a request appear as *Unknown* rather than being dropped, so the shares always add up.

## Per link

The link list carries its own numbers: every row shows the total clicks and a fifteen-day trend, which is usually enough to spot the one link that is actually working without opening the analytics page at all.

## How the data is collected

- **Clicks are recorded after the visitor has been sent on their way.** Measuring never delays a redirect, and if the analytics storage is unreachable the redirect still happens. You lose a data point, not a visitor. The page says so plainly when it cannot load data.
- **Visitors are counted with a cookie** set on your own short domain, which is also what keeps A/B assignments stable. It holds a random identifier and nothing else.
- **Countries come from the visitor's IP address**, resolved while the request runs and never stored. The result is the country, nothing finer.
- **Bots are recognised and left out** of every number on the page, so a crawler sweeping your links does not inflate the counts.

## Availability

Analytics itself is included in every plan; the plan decides how far back you can look. See [Plans and limits](https://docs.zulink.co/team-and-plans/plans-and-limits).
